The 3 Journeys of Marketing: Third Journey Marketing Plan
What’s covered in this learning:
Third Journey Marketing is, at heart, referral marketing. It’s asking clients and others in your network and audience to send people into your First and Second Journey marketing avenues. Each of the 3 Journeys needs a plan, and this is where you can plan your Third Journey.

There are two modules that go more in-depth into creating ongoing connections with your audience. Go ahead and complete the Third Journey Marketing worksheet to the extent you can, knowing that you will want to complete one or both of the modules below.
The first module is Asking for Referrals, which pretty directly covers the basics of how to ask for referrals in an effective way.
The second module is actually a lesson within Heart-Centered Networking, the lesson on Strategic Alliances. In this you take the principles of Heart-Centered Networking, but use them to connect with influential folks who can introduce you to groups, communities, memberships, audiences, rather than referring just a single person at a time.
Here is the PDF that will walk you through making a plan for Third Journey marketing.

You may want pen and paper, other ways of taking notes and recording insights. Pause as much as you need to!
Your assignment:
- Read the Third Journey Marketing Worksheet PDF.
- Answer the questions.
You might find it helpful to open up a Google Doc, or another file, or even in a paper notebook (gasp!) and answer the questions there, so you can track your progress.
Questions:
- What answers did you come up with from the Worksheet PDF?
- If you were doing any marketing activities before, which activities do you now know were Third Journey? How effective have they been?
- What does your commitment to Third Journey Marketing look like, based on the answers you’ve come up with? How will you regularly ask for referrals? Is now the time to take on Strategic Alliance marketing?
- Any other insights or learnings?
