Your One Compelling Sentence
Class Four: Pyschographics
We’re on to the Second Element in your One Compelling Sentence. Not many know the meaning to this mysterious word, but it’s also perhaps the single most influential and compelling part of the entire sentence. And, once you understand it, not so confusing.
What you’re doing this class.
- Watch the Class Four video, about 12 minutes.
- Reading the PDF.
- Listen to at least one of the Remembrances, about 15 minutes.
- Work with the exercise on pages 8-10.
- Fill out the assignment form and send it in by the deadline.

Once you are through the Class video(s), and have read the PDF(s), listen to at least one of these Remembrances. Each one is around 15 minutes, so don’t feel compelled to listen to all of them before continuing on in the class.
Just choose the one you are most drawn to, and allow your heart be moved by what you experience.

Live Class Recording
Posting the recording from our first class here. Heads up that this same video is also posted in “The Tender Art of Niching” module, since both topics were covered in this one session. So if you already watched it over there, no need to watch it twice!
Q&A
At least skim through the questions, as they might have answers you didn’t know you needed.
One Compelling Sentence Q&A
Q&A will be here after assignments are turned in from the live class.
Here’s the collected questions and my answers from the assignment forms.
Q: I heard you say that people don't "struggle" with what they believe-- but what about negative, core beliefs like "I'm not good enough" or "something must be really wrong with me"?
The Full Question: As a therapist, this is the core of the work I do with people– changing unhelpful beliefs– but people also don’t always realize they have these, or how much beliefs like these can be at the root of their more conscious struggles. How to speak to this?
Answer: Thank you for asking and clarifying this. When I say that people don’t struggle with what they believe, I don’t mean that arriving at our core beliefs is never a struggle or a journey. But rather, more clearly, I mean that our core, conscious, positive understandings of the world are not the same thing as problems. If there is a struggle or a problem, then it’s going to be the problem, not the psychographics, if that makes sense.
Q: Do you have advice about exploring a niche that I don't have experience with really?
Turn in your assignment. (15-30+ minutes)
Deadline: Noon eastern, on the Monday before the next live class.
Fill out the form below to both help you integrate what you’ve learned, to help me know how you and others in the course are doing, and if you have questions, this is how to submit them. You will receive your own copy of your answers by email.
How much time it takes you is very personal. Some just pour right out onto the page. Others take their time with it.
Your assignment
If you get the assignment form in by the deadline, I will pull as many questions as I can to answer in a written Q&A that you should have before the next live class.
A few things to know about the questions.
- I can’t promise to answer every question asked. I often get to many, if not most.
- I pull the questions from the area of the form where it says to ask questions, and put them in a separate document. I won’t have the rest of your answers in front of me, so please include anything you need me to know in order to answer the question.
- Similarly, I won’t have your name or any identifying information attached to your question, so I won’t know who you are when I answer.
I read the assignments, I pull the questions and drop them in a document, and then, later, I go through and answer the questions I’ve pulled, as many as I can get to.
