The Third Element is The Problem

What’s covered in this learning:

The third and final element of your One Compelling Sentence! Problems, problems, problems… except you only need one. Read the PDF, and when you get to the exercise, go watch the video. It will reinforce what I wrote, and then I’ll guide you through the exercise.

1. The Third Element is the Problem PDF

The Problem

2. Watch The Problem video

Here’s the video! It was recorded in HD, so if it isn’t loading quickly for you, or keeps stopping, click the “HD” in the lower right. That turns the HD off (you can click it again to turn it back on).

At the point where I guide you through the exercise, you’ll want to pause it as often as you want to give yourself the time you need.

Your assignment:

  • Read the PDF workbook.
  • Watch the video.
  • Do the exercise that is in the workbook.
  • Answer the questions.

You might find it helpful to open up a Google Doc, or another file, or even in a paper notebook (gasp!) and answer the questions there, so you can track your progress.

Questions:

  • Describe your experience with the The Problem exercise, and any answers you wish to write down for yourself.
  • From Class 2, what did you come up with about who you are called to help?
  • What’s the “big list” of problems your clients struggle with?
  • What does your list look like once you’ve narrowed it down? Were you able to identify a fundamental or foundational problem that all (or nearly all) of your clients struggle with in some way?
  • What insights or take-aways do you have from this exercise?
