Being Sustainably Self-Employed
There are three topics that are under appreciated, yet are critical, just to staying healthy and productive in your business.
1. A schedule that works for you.
The first topic is creating a sustainable schedule for yourself. For years, so many of us were raised with the Monday-Friday 9am-5pm school and work schedule, that we’ve never had a chance to find a schedule that is more nourishing to ourselves.
2. True Nourishment
The second is nourishment. Our culture tempts us with all kinds of stimulation to occupy our attention, but in ways that often leave us empty and unfulfilled.
Consciously thinking about how we nourish ourselves, as entrepreneurs, without it being a burden, is critical.
3. Compassionate Accountability
The extremes of rigid, perfectionist committment to goals and deadlines, versus the blow-with-the-wind, unfocused, it will get done if inspiration strikes, neither work.
We do need accountability but it has to be compassionate.
Healthy and happy for years.
Take on these three topics, and integrate them, and they will help you live sustainably and happily through years of running a business.
